ISEE 2010 in Nice cancelled

The European exhibition and congress for stamp makers and engravers "ISEE", from 8th to 10th October 2010 in Nice has now been cancelled by the organizers.

 

An alternative date will be sought, as the venue Amsterdam came into question.

Single Euro Payment s Area (SEPA): cross-border direct debits now a reality
From 2 November, banks will start to offer customers the possibility to make regular payments using the new SEPA Direct Debit scheme. This means that, for the first time, consumers and businesses will be able to make direct debit transactions between different countries in the euro area.

Professional qualifications: Commission provides improved information and guidance

The European Commission has published a scoreboard offering an overview of where Member States stand in implementing the Professional Qualifications Directive into national law, as well as a "user’s guide" allowing citizens to find responses to their questions about how the Directive works. The Professional Qualifications Directive of 2005 facilitates free movement of citizens who wish to establish themselves as a self-employed person or as a worker, or who wish to go cross-border on a temporary basis.

viscom düsseldorf 2009 is set to open its doors in three months!

From 1 to 3 October 2009 over 10,000 international visitors plus more than 350 exhibiting companies from over 30 countries are expected at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre.

viscom brings together all the different visual communication sectors under a single umbrella: everything from signmaking, POS items, displays, guidance and orientation systems, light advertising, digital printing and industrial inkjet printing through to digital signage.

ERASMUS - New EU programme for young entrepreneurs

Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is a pilot project initiated by the European Union (EU). It aims at helping new entrepreneurs to acquire relevant skills for managing a small or medium-sized enterprise (SMEs) by spending time in a business in another EU country. It contributes to improving their know-how and fosters cross-border transfers of knowledge and experience between entrepreneurs.

The European Qualifications Framework: a new tool to translate qualifications
A Recommendation establishing the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning (EQF) was formally co-signed in April by the European Parliament and the Council.

 

The Recommendation creates a reference framework, which will relate different countries, qualifications systems and frameworks together. It will act as a translation device to make qualifications more readable and understandable to employers, individuals and institutions, so that workers and learners can use their qualifications in other countries.
